Who is this Woman?
My name is Vivian Nelson Melle and this is my blog. I’m a former educator and counselor who decided to follow my dream of writing. Turns out I’m good enough to make a living at it so I can stay home with my daughter every day. Isn’t that great? I have also decided to spend time on the hobbies I love like crafting and photography. Wouldn’t you know I am actually paying bills doing the things I love. So this site is all about being a crafty, eco-minded, Latina mama who loves to cook, garden and make things. If you are interested in hiring me for writing, speaking engagements or reviews please drop me line through my email. I also run Phoenix Neighborhood Blogger because I love this hot, sweaty and absolutely beautiful city.
Career Background
Still want to know more about me? Well, I worked in education and counseling for most of my life starting when I began volunteering with Head Start at the age of nine. I have specialized in all stages of life but mostly focused on early childhood along with teen years. I am bilingual in Spanish and English and have extensive training and experience in multicultural issues, cultural competency, body image, self esteem building, parenting, special needs and whole family relationships. I have proficient knowledge of natural healing including herbs, aromatherapy, Reiki and stress reduction. Because I find our rushed society dealing with more illness and physical ailments caused by unhealthy lifestyles I want to help others, especially children, chill out and alleviate the some of the chaos. In addition to writing about health and wellness, I offer mental health trainings and motivational lectures on various aspects of healthy living including.
Phoenician
As a native Phoenician, I enjoy touring Phoenix to find new dining adventures and the many entertainment delights afforded by southwestern living. My site, Phoenix Neighborhood Blogger, highlights culinary arts in the Valley of the Sun along with local attractions, events and agencies. I try to focus on the stories that are hidden behind the tragic headlines of today’s news. There are so many wonderful things happening.
